Looking back

Saturday, June 15th, 2002

Wooohoo Jogger is finally back up so here is a long awaited update (I tried to do this a week ago)…. Just reading over my previous enteries and have a few updates.

First of all on the 29th of December I said “Looks like summer finally has settled in” having said that, it would seem like we hardly had a summer this year. We might have had a few warm days when the air conditioning came in handy but not our usual summer weather. But it’s not all bad as summer didn’t bite me as it normally does!

On the 10th of March, why did I waste so much time on that infamous OS that I’ve never even booted since?

public .au jabber server

Thursday, April 11th, 2002

I am looking at starting a public .au jabber server. Anyone got any ideas or want to help? I would rather not use austux.net for a public server so any suggestions on a domain to use? Perhaps this could be an Australian Jabber Foundation to provide a jabber server and to promote the use of jabber in Australia?

The long weekend

Sunday, March 10th, 2002

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this jogger damnit!

So it’s the long weekend… a very long weekend of trying to get my laptop working and it’s taken me most of the last day and a half to install Debian GNU/Linux and another infamous operating system that will go unamed

Net Force

Sunday, January 13th, 2002

Just watched the movie Net Force on TV. It was a very well written story despite the usual Hollywood habbit of getting technical terms wrong. Highly recommended.

Saving computers from dust

Tuesday, December 18th, 2001

Well what a day…. wasn’t all that productive but I put my hdd into my dad’s computer which was sitting in the cupboard getting dust all over it… I don’t know why I left it there because it is far more powerful than mine!

Also sent off a Christmas card to the UK… hopefully it’ll get there before Christmas :P

Upgrading Psi

Monday, December 17th, 2001

Well here I am on PSI 0.8.3 now that it’s in Debian! It’s 1:43am… waaay past my bed time so I’d better get some sleep!

Linux taking over

Saturday, December 15th, 2001

Found these somewhat interesting articles while reading my local LUG’s mailing list. Linux heading for the corporate desktop and Linux on hard fight for corporate acceptance… contains a fair amount of the usual Microsoft FUD so be warned… only thing that really worries me is that Microsoft might successfully scare some people away from thinking about using Linux…. but at least they certainally can’t kill it!

Can’t wait to get my hands on PSI 0.8.3 either but I think I might be lazy and wait until it hits sid (Debian unstable)

Damn bloody spammers

Saturday, December 15th, 2001

I’ve had enough of spammers…. time to start reporting them again… I need a good blacklist as well some organised method of tracking down spammers and taking a class action against them…. guess that might be asking for too much though!
