Surviving the heat

Sunday, December 30th, 2001

Today was naturally unproductive as the temperature reached 35oC. Looks like summer finally has settled in… and it’s gonna bite me too! At least today it cooled down pretty quickly!

Despite the heat and the unproductiveness I did get to the third level in tuxracer and the second level in space tripper (demo). And I did get freeradius setup to use mysql and almost got l2tpd running.

So this is Christmas

Tuesday, December 25th, 2001

Well what a busy Christmas!

Made some German Pfeffernusse biscuits today and had found that we had no icing sugar. Took me a few attempts at searching different supermarkets before I could find any!

Went out for dinner tonight (that’s too nights in a row since we had Vietnamese last night) at a Chinese Restaurant with my brother’s old school friend’s and family. Got the German seal of approval that my Pfeffernusse biscuits taste good (my brother’s friend’s mother is German!

Well…. the spammers seem to be getting me more than ever today… sent off a few more reports which has taken a bit of my sleep time!

Going to bed now at 1:17am on Christmas day… Merry Christmas to those who bother to read my Jogger!

Saving computers from dust

Tuesday, December 18th, 2001

Well what a day…. wasn’t all that productive but I put my hdd into my dad’s computer which was sitting in the cupboard getting dust all over it… I don’t know why I left it there because it is far more powerful than mine!

Also sent off a Christmas card to the UK… hopefully it’ll get there before Christmas :P

Upgrading Psi

Monday, December 17th, 2001

Well here I am on PSI 0.8.3 now that it’s in Debian! It’s 1:43am… waaay past my bed time so I’d better get some sleep!

Trudging behind painfully slow shoppers

Sunday, December 16th, 2001

Just got back from doing the weekly shopping on this fine Sunday evening… I hate doing those sort of things… people seem to walk so slow as if they have a year to get out of the place… it’s a bit like my local railway station… who ever thought of putting a shopping centre right on top of that thing?!?

Where’s Summer?

Sunday, December 16th, 2001

Well it’s a nice Sunny morning here in Melbourne although it’s was only 15oC when I got up 2 hours ago (9:30am) and right now it’s about 17 which is pretty cool for summer! What’s all this guff about global warming? This is the coldest December that I’ve experienced.

Since it’s sunny I might go outside soon and try and get rid of that jungle that grew over winter.

and it’s now 12:12pm and this message has been sitting here for the last 40 minutes unfinished… ok I’ll send it now and get outside!

Four seasons in one day

Sunday, December 16th, 2001

Well what did I say!!! Melbourne’s weather is such that it was cloudy and miserable this morning and turned out to be quite a pleasant sunny afternoon… maybe I should work for the Bureau of Meteorology!

Well it’s 1:07 AM so time for some sleep…..

I’ve updated this Jogger thing quite a bit today… I promise I won’t do it sooo much in future… it’s just a kinda thing where it’s new and cool!

Linux taking over

Saturday, December 15th, 2001

Found these somewhat interesting articles while reading my local LUG’s mailing list. Linux heading for the corporate desktop and Linux on hard fight for corporate acceptance… contains a fair amount of the usual Microsoft FUD so be warned… only thing that really worries me is that Microsoft might successfully scare some people away from thinking about using Linux…. but at least they certainally can’t kill it!

Can’t wait to get my hands on PSI 0.8.3 either but I think I might be lazy and wait until it hits sid (Debian unstable)
